Transportation Electrification Roadmap

In November 2022, the Michigan Office of Future Mobility and Electrification (OFME) released the MI Future Mobility Plan, which consists of an ambitious set of goals aimed at modernizing the state’s transportation sector and deploying 100,000 electric vehicle (EV) chargers by 2030 to support an anticipated 2 million EVs on Michigan roads. However, Michigan does not yet have a holistic framework or roadmap to guide policymakers and stakeholders seeking to make progress toward these goals. Such a plan that outlines supportive state policies was necessary to enable equitable EV charging deployment and EV adoption opportunities and ensure Michigan’s clean mobility future.

The Institute for Energy Innovation and the Michigan Clean Fuels Institute are now pleased to release the Transportation Electrification Roadmap for Michigan. This roadmap was completed with help from partners Michigan EIBC and Clean Fuels Michigan. Seeking to reaffirm Michigan’s historic position as a leader in the clean mobility industry and mobility innovation, the report includes an evaluation of the state’s existing programs and provides cohesive recommendations to enable increased EV charger deployment, accelerate EV adoption, and support grid reliability and resilience in Michigan.
